AWARD OF CNAS ACCREDITATION FOR T&D DRIVE SYSTEM COMPONENTS

The laboratory center of T&D sister company, Bafang, has been awarded the CNAS-CL01 accreditation for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. 

Introduction:

Bafang, the world-class developer and manufacturer of electric drive systems for two-wheelers, has had its laboratory center accredited by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), receiving the CNAS-CL01 certification for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, which is aligned with the ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 standard. 

As the sister company to T&D, Bafang’s accreditation extends to the products T&D develops and manufactures for the electric motorcycle sector. This includes motors, HMIs, controllers and sensors – the essential components of a complete drive system for electric motorbikes. Bafang has been a pioneer for two decades in developing high-quality drive systems for the e-bike sector; T&D now brings this expertise to the fast-evolving field of electric motorbikes, with an extensive selection of complete powertrain solutions for OEMs to choose from. A T&D spokesperson stated, “This accreditation by CNAS provides an extra layer of reassurance for our partner brands in the electric motorcycle sector. The certification indicates strict compliance of our products with international standards, helping us to set a benchmark within the industry.”

Bafang’s Quality Management System

The facilities successfully established in the Bafang Laboratory Center include laboratories for acoustics, motor performance, battery performance, whole system performance, an EMC laboratory, and mechanical and environmental reliability laboratories, as well as other specialized testing facilities. A quality management team covers  every stage of the product lifecycle, ensuring product quality through a multi-channel, whole-process system. 

CNAS accreditation

CNAS is the Chinese national authority for conducting accreditation evaluation, and has international mutual recognition, with membership of both the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). In addition, it is a member of the regional body in the field of accreditation, Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC).

CNAS accreditation signifies that the outstanding hardware facilities and management practices of the Bafang Laboratory Center have reached international recognition standards, and that the facility possesses the technical capabilities to conduct high-quality professional testing. This accreditation represents compliance with the international ISO/IEC 17025 standard, providing both brands and end users with confidence in the quality of the products. 

In the electric motorcycle sector, this level of assurance is significant for further development of the industry, to help address concerns from both motorbike brands and riders about battery and motor performance and reliability, and in establishing recognizable standards for the essential components in driving electric motorcycle technology.
