T&D AND DIMENTRO LAUNCH COMPLETE, CUSTOMIZABLE ELECTRIC MOPED PACKAGE
The Equator project is a one-stop solution for brands in the electric motorcycle sector.
Electric powertrain brand T&D has joined forces with motorcycle developer Dimentro for the pioneering Equator project. With T&D as the drive system supplier and Dimentro as the OEM, they have created an industry breakthrough: a customizable electric moped that stands out from ICE-based motorcycle designs. Lightweight and robust, with outstanding, innovative technology and features, it benefits both manufacturers and riders by delivering unprecedented enjoyment and reliability to city commuting rides.
Modularized, automotive-grade frame design offering multiple advantages
Equator is the motorcycle industry’s first moped to feature an automotive-grade aluminum alloy, one-piece, ultra-high-pressure die-cast frame. The frame’s construction process offers highly cost-effective, modularized manufacturing for industry-leading durability and robustness, which means that it typically requires 30% fewer components compared to other electric motorcycles, minimizing maintenance needs.
The versatility of its modular design enables it to be tailored with various electric moped configurations for OEMs, while also saving on space compared to existing frame designs. This provides greater flexibility for future upgrades. Additionally, its set-up means that riders can enjoy better stability at higher speeds, for improved safety and control.
Highly efficient powertrain for maximum impact in varied conditions
Equator is equipped with a proprietary, integrated powertrain featuring CVT technology, with a PMSM motor and MPTA controller, ensuring maximized power, torque and efficiency. It is the first continuously variable transmission integrated drive system to be introduced in the motorcycle industry.
Its compact, IP67-rated design offers enhanced performance, precision and stability, and minimized maintenance, for optimized rider comfort in varying road and weather conditions, with reduced vibration and smooth, natural braking.
Smart connectivity
Equator’s design elevates urban commuting with its advanced technological capabilities. It allows for full-vehicle OTA (Over-the-Air) updates that accommodate remote upgrades - just like a smartphone. This functionality is complemented by a modular circuit design, which allows the easy plugging-in and connection of other functional accessories.
It enables riders to customize their ride with a range of features, from voice-activated assistance to heated seats and handlebars and more.
Equipped with T&D’s self-developed tried and tested app, it comes with a riding data dashboard, and multiple functions including hill-hold assist, slope descent management, and lane change alerts for enhanced rider safety and control.
Generous storage and battery performance
Equator’s modular frame design allows for plentiful space, which widens capacity for larger batteries to be incorporated into e-moped designs, alongside 20L under-seat storage. Equator’s standard battery design comes with a 5kWh high-capacity LFP battery which offers:
- A range of over 100 kilometers
- Fast charging (from 30–80% in one hour) with three methods compatible with car chargers in domestic and public settings, for added convenience.
- A high-end battery management system (BMS) with multiple safety measures
- Competitive lifespan, representing optimum ROI and extending overall bike lifespan
Optional alternative batteries for specific climate or use conditions are also available at an additional cost.
Personalized aesthetics
In terms of appearance, Equator’s exterior can be adapted according to rider preferences. Directly from the app, there are 16 million customizable ambient lighting colors to choose from. It also has a quick-swap exterior design, offering interchangeable coverings, enabling the moped’s look to be changed in just 3 minutes with an array of styles, color palettes and textures.
Conclusion
T&D is thrilled to launch this groundbreaking, customizable moped in collaboration with Dimentro, and is actively seeking global partners as it works to make sustainable, high-performance transportation more widely accessible to urban commuters around the world.
