T&D SHOWS OFF ELECTRIC POWERTRAINS ON CAFé RACER AND DIRT BIKE MOTORCYCLES AT EICMA

Introduction:

Electric motorcycles sporting T&D powertrains drew the crowds at one of the motorcycle industry’s most anticipated annual events, EICMA, in Milan from November 7-12. At booth I05 in Hall 22P, a lightweight off-road model from MECR, and a stylish café racer from Insork, clearly showcased the ingenuity and versatility of T&D’s technology. Both motorcycles feature complete powertrains wholly developed by T&D, comprising of motor, battery, controller, HMI and charger, all working in interconnected harmony. 

The development process

T&D collaborated closely with both motorcycle brands to design drive systems perfectly suited to the end-use scenario. A key player in this process is the innovative algorithm created by T&D, which allows engineers and product designers to input the key parameters of their motorcycle project, and quickly identify the optimum components to meet their needs. By using this powerful tool, and through close contact with T&D engineers, the development teams at both Insork and MECR were able to bring their products to market smoothly and efficiently.  

The Insork EM77 electric café racer

Insork see the EM77 not only as a sports e-motorcycle, but as embodying a way of life, appealing to riders who have faith in the future and a concern for the environment. Carrying the LI06 drive system from T&D’s Forest series for urban electric motorcycles, it offers impressive statistics:

The MECR-X off-road bike

MECR-X draws inspiration from a long lineage of off-road motorbikes, in a model that is compact, lightweight and superbly nimble on the trail. The key characteristics of the FE01 drive system, from T&D’s Storm range, enable the high energy and explosive bursts of power required for off-road riding with multiple steep gradients:
