POSITIVE FEEDBACK FOR T&D ELECTRIC POWERTRAINS AT MOTORCYCLE LIVE
The NEC, Birmingham, saw the first public test rides of electric off-road motorcycles equipped with T&D’s complete powertrains
Introduction:
T&D, innovators in complete electric motorcycle powertrains, captivated at Motorcycle Live, the UK’s largest motorcycle event, held at NEC Birmingham from 18th- 26th of November. At stand 2A18 in Hall 2, the team showcased two bikes from MECR and Cheerdmoto equipped with their Storm FE01 off-road drive system, along with actual-size models of individual components for visitors to explore.
Test riding
The exhibited motorcycles are exclusively powered by T&D’s complete powertrains, seamlessly integrating motor, battery, controller, HMI, and charger, for optimal performance. Both were made available at alternate times on the Electric Test Ride Zone for the show’s visitors to try out for themselves, with an overwhelmingly positive reception. Riders enjoyed the “fun, nippy feel” and sizeable torque, while one seasoned motorbiker stated, “I’ve always liked the way a motorcycle sounds, but the acceleration of an electric bike is surprising.”
Revolutionising the product design process
T&D leads the way in comprehensive R&D manufacturing and services, collaborating closely with motorcycle brands to craft bespoke drive systems tailored to their exact specifications. As an integral part of their commitment to product development, T&D has pioneered a cutting-edge algorithm. This groundbreaking tool allows engineers and product designers to pinpoint optimum components by inputting key parameters. Notably, successful partners such as Cheerdmoto and MECR seamlessly brought their products to market using this dynamic tool in tandem with the expert guidance from T&D engineers. Both brands selected the FE01 system, from T&D’s Storm series for off-road motorbikes, for their models on show at Motorcycle Live.
