T&D PRESENTS ELECTRIC EVOLUTION AT CIMA MOTOR 2023
Electric drive systems brand T&D showcases powertrains in off-road and city commuter electric motorcycle models at Chongqing trade show
The 21st edition of CIMA Motor in Chongqing, China provided the backdrop for the first trade-show sighting of T&D drive systems installed in a range of electric motorcycles. Two off-road motorbikes from the MECR and Cheerdmoto brands, and an electric moped based on a popular conversion-to-electric model, were on display at the T&D stand, alongside displays of the individual powertrain components: motors and drive units, controllers, batteries, HMI units and charging systems.
Engineered for off-road performance
The two dirt bikes, MECR-X and Cheerdmoto QD-EM2.0, are equipped with the FE01 complete drive system from T&D’s Storm range for off-road models. The powertrain is designed to be light, compact and robust, to easily handle the demands of track riding, and provide riders with a responsive, powerful and exhilarating riding experience.
The permanent magnet synchronous motor features a peak power output of 6kW, 125N.m of max shaft torque, and a 0-50km/h acceleration time of 2.8 seconds.
The compact battery is configured with high-capacity 21700 cells, weighs in at 12kg and is encased in a robust all-aluminum housing. The intelligent BMS delivers 6 key protection functions, ensuring safe use in challenging conditions.
The FOC intelligent vector controller is highly impact-resistant features automotive-grade software for rapid, accurate and reliable control.
The HMI features a TFT LCD color screen, providing riders with clear real-time information and alerts.
Bespoke charging solutions enable rapid recharging in just 2.5 hours.
Powering city commuting
The moped on display was initially designed for an ICE-to-electric conversion project in the Southeast Asian market. It is based on a popular model in the market which originally had a CVT powertrain; T&D has developed a new design for the whole system from its Forest range, which comprehensively meets the characteristic requirements of long range and high efficiency, to satisfy real-world usage scenarios.
